Here are some tips for your visit to the city if you visit Malaga with a rented motorhome or camper<\/strong>. Although it is possible to visit the city of Malaga with a motorhome, trips to the city center should be avoided due to the size of the motorhomes<\/strong>. Below you will find suggestions on where you can park and spend the night with your motorhome in Malaga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can travel to Malaga by plane from anywhere in Europe. Almost all European airlines, as well as low cost airlines, have as travel destiantion Malaga. The Malaga-Pablo Picasso Airport is the fourth largest airport in Spain and was expanded in 2010 with an additional terminal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Malaga, museums, tours and history<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Malaga offers a large number of attractions<\/strong>, ranging in theme from Roman times to the present day. The latest attraction added in 2015 is the Centre Pompidou in Malaga<\/strong>. A total of 70 works can be seen, on loan from its sister museum in Paris. In addition, there are three traveling exhibitions per year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the Arab period<\/strong>, you can visit the Alcazaba of Malaga<\/strong>, from the 11th century. It is the second largest Moorish fortress in Andalusia after Granada. Together with the Gibralfaro Castle<\/strong>, they form a large complex in the current center of the city. The main attraction of this complex is the ancient Roman theater at the foot of the Alcazaba<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The city also has two famous museums: the Picasso Museum<\/strong>, in the artist’s hometown, and the Thyssen Museum<\/strong>, as well as some excellent and<\/strong> not known<\/strong> museums, such as the Glass and Crystal Museum, the Automobile Museum of Malaga or the Museum of Popular Arts and Customs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Worthwhile are the walks through the Marina of Malaga and the Historical Botanical Garden La Concepcion<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where to park the motorhome to visit Malaga?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you are traveling by plane and want to rent a motorhome or camper in Malaga in the area, we advise you to spend the first night not far away from the city.<\/strong> Especially if you land late, this will allow you to familiarize yourself with the motorhome first. Both motorhome areas and campings in Malaga have good public transport connections<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To visit the city, just leave the motorhome at the campsite or in the motorhome area and take the bus or train to the city center. A visit to the sights of Malaga can easily be combined with a beach vacation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Camping Torremolinos<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The campsite of Torremolinos<\/u><\/a><\/strong> is located 10 minutes from our rental station in Malaga. The campground has simple facilities and some trees. It is located 1 km away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Places of interest and destinations for travelers with motorhomes in the province of Malaga<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The entire coastal strip of the province is quite narrow and is delimited by the foothills of the Betic Mountain Range. From east to west are the following mountain ranges, some of which are also declared protected areas: Los Alcornocales Natural Park, Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park, Sierra de las Nieves National Park, Montes de M\u00e1laga Natural Park and the Axarqu\u00eda Natural Park<\/strong>. Elevations range from 1500 m to 2000 m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Approximately in the center of the province, at the height of Malaga, the Guadalhorce valley forms a wide access from the interior to the coast. In this area in particular, there are many worthwhile places<\/strong> to visit if you rent a motorhome<\/strong>. Among them there are historical<\/strong> testimonies, but also landscapes and natural monuments<\/strong> worth seeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El Caminito del Rey, the most famous attraction<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

One of the most visited attractions is the Camino del Rey<\/u><\/strong><\/a>. It is a 7 km long route that crosses gorges up to 700 m high. Originally, the Camino was built from the old railroad tracks of the C\u00f3rdoba-M\u00e1laga line for the workers of the nearby Gaitanejo and El Chorro power plants. This was necessary mainly to bring in material for the pipelines. When King Alfonso inaugurated the Conde de Guadalhorce dam in 1921, he used these same roads. This is where the name Camino del Rey comes from. If you want to visit the Camino del Rey, you should try to get a ticket in advance.<\/strong> For campers, the closest place to spend the night is the Camping Ardales<\/u><\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ronda and its surroundings<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Located in the west of the province, between the Sierra de las Nieves and the Sierra de Libar. Today, Ronda is known all over the world, especially through the photos of the New Bridge over the Tajo river. However, Ronda has existed as a tourist destination for a long time. In the 19th century, Dor\u00e9 and Rilke, among others, visited the city. It was also the time when the foundations of modern bullfighting in Ronda were laid. The location between the two mountain ranges and next to the Ronda Depression was of strategic importance for many centuries. This is also reflected in the city’s attactions.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the other hand, the House of the Moorish King<\/strong> and the Arab Baths<\/strong> are testimonies of the Arab period. Since the Romans, you can visit the ruins of Acinipo<\/strong> on the outskirts of the city. Of more recent history, the bullring, the Casa Don Bosco and the Mirador de los Viejos Romanticos<\/strong> are worth a visit. Also worth mentioning is the Bandolero Museum. Ronda also belongs to the route of the White Villages and is the most populated town of these. With a motorhome, there are several alternatives for parking and accommodation, there are two motorhome areas.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Antequera, history and monuments<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Inland, behind the Montes de M\u00e1laga, lies the city of Antequera<\/strong>. Coming from Granada or Seville, you can see from afar the symbol of the city, the Pe\u00f1a de los Enamorados<\/strong>. According to medieval legend, the Christian Tello and the Moorish Tagzona of Archidonia fell in love. In their flight to Antequera, they were discovered and decided to die rather than be separated. Halfway up was the rocky mountain and together they plunged to their deaths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The natural monument, the best known, the karst mountain Torcal<\/strong> de Antequera<\/strong>, should be visited in good weather. Less known, but still a UNESCO World Heritage Site, are the dolmens of Antequera<\/strong>(Conjunto arqueol\u00f3gico D\u00f3lmenes de Antequera). There are a total of three megalithic structures dating from the 5th and 6th millennia B.C., which can beeasily visitedby motorhome for free i<\/strong>n one morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the city, the Moorish castle Alcazaba de Antequera<\/strong> and the impressive Royal Collegiate Church of Santa Maria<\/strong> are within walking distance of the campsite. The city has a free Motorhome Area to visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the province of Malaga<\/strong> there are places<\/strong> worth visiting with your motorhome<\/strong>.
