Tips and advices on the selection of motorhomes

You will find detailed information about the equipment of the vehicles in the technical data of the motorhomes. This short guide should be understood as complementary and results from many customer consultations.

The number of travelers may not exceed the permissible seats registered in the vehicle documents, of course. For child seats, there are two seats with three-point seat belts in each model. If these seats have Isofix devices, this is noted in the technical data.

Then there is the question of sleeping accommodations. We distinguish between fixed beds, electric fold down beds and seating groups that can be converted into beds. Fixed beds are located in the rear and, in the case of alcove motorhomes, above the driver’s cab. Both the fold down beds and the converted seating groups are in the center of the vehicle. The conversion of the seating groups takes a few minutes. The resulting area provides space for two children or one adult. The fold down beds are suitable for a maximum of two adults.

The size of the garage is determined by the arrangement and height of the fixed beds in the rear. This is located below the beds. The higher the bed entrance height, the larger the garage. The smallest garage (capacity for bags, camping chairs, camping table) have the models with French bed. Slightly larger is the garage in the models with single beds (capacity for strollers, small suitcases, folding bikes). The motorhomes with rear bed, which is placed across the entire width of the vehicle, offer the largest garage. Here also fit large suitcases, surfboards or bicycles.

There are differences in the characteristics of driving, maneuvering and parking the motorhomes. Due to the smaller dimensions the campers have an advantage over the semi-integrated and overcabs. On the other side the disadvantage of the campers the available space in the vehicle. Here, the overcab is unbeatable, which is why families in particular prefer this layout.

So the choice of motorhome is always a compromise between space, or comfort and the size of the vehicle. In addition, there are personal preferences, the planned itinerary and existing experience in traveling with a motorhome or camper.
